I used to think my family was strange because we didn't take a typical family vacation to the summer hot spots. Our family summers were spent at various county fairs showing livestock and ending up at the state fair. I have lots of great memories from successful trips to the fair. I also made some great friendships along the way. Through all of our travels, we three girls always end up together and fun is usually involved!
As we do every year, my family gathered at the state fair to see the sights and smell the smells. I look at the state fair in a different light as a parent and being in the specialty advertising business. It's a great way to get your name in front of new customers. Nearly every booth has some sort of giveway. I saw lots of reusable shopping totes, can holders, license plate frames and plenty of pens and pencils. My son loves temporary tattoos. We saw lots of stress relievers in many different shapes. Many booths have drawings for larger prizes like barbecue grills. I love to go to the Agri Missouri Store and buy food products that are made in MO. I have a new love for the Jailhouse Jalapeno Brew. WARNING: THIS IS NOT FOR WEAK TASTEBUDS!
I always have to have a lemon shake up or two, which of course has a special cup. Next year, I'm going to be green and recycle my cup for refills! My son loves the corn dogs so we have to get a couple of those during our stay.
I can't forget the many t-shirts that I see around the fair. Some as giveaways and even more for sale. New designs sprinkle the fairgrounds every year. As my friend at AddVenture Products says, people wear t-shirts to remember fun events and express themselves. Check out his blog and see what's hot in the t-shirt world!
We are having an early preview of fall this week and I am loving it. Enjoy a great weekend!
